PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project proposes an experiential market designed to influence customer experience and circulation through lighting.
Located in Savannah’s Historic District, the project introduces a specialty market to address the area’s limited grocery options. Surrounded by retail, dining, nightlife, academic buildings, hotels, and Airbnbs, it offers curated goods and meal kits as a convenient alternative for locals and visitors seeking fresh prepared meal without dining out.
Location: 9 Drayton Street, Savannah, GA
Occupancy: Retail
Software: Revit + Enscape
LIGHTING CONCEPT: EYE OF THE STORM
Inspired by the calm of at the center of a hurricane, the lighting concept creates moments of refuge within the movement and activity of the market. Layered light guides circulation while creating a warm, immersive experience.
LAYOUT CONCEPT: INTERTWINED
Intertwined explores the connection between people, place and movement. Radial circulation paths and layered lighting work together to fill spatial voids, establish connection and guide customers throughout the market.
Unlike conventional grocery layouts, curved paths allow shoppers to navigate without dark or congested aisles. The design creates new connections through an intuitive, memorable experience that feels distinct from traditional grocery environments.
